Professor J. Lam received a first class BSc degree in Mechanical
Engineering from the University of Manchester in 1983, and was awarded
the Ashbury Scholarship, the A.H. Gibson Prize, and the H. Wright Baker
Prize for his academic performance. He later obtained the MPhil and PhD
degrees from the University of Cambridge in 1985 and 1988, respectively.
For his doctoral and post-doctoral research, he was supported by the
Croucher Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship . He is the recipient of
an Outstanding Researcher Award of the University of Hong Kong.

Prior to joining the University of Hong Kong in 1993, Professor Lam held
lectureships at now the City University of Hong Kong and the University
of Melbourne. He was a Visiting Fellow of the Research School of
Physical Sciences and Engineering, Australian National University.
Professor Lam has close academic association with a number of
universities in Mainland China. He is Guest Professor of Huazhong
University of Science and Technology, Shandong University, Central South
University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and was Concurrent Professor
of the Northeastern University, Consulting Professor of South China
University of Technology.

On the professional service side, Professor Lam is a Chartered
Mathematician, Chartered Scientist, Fellow of Institute of Mathematics
and Its Applications, Fellow of Institution of Engineering and
Technology, Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers, and Associate Member of Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
He also joined other learned societies as Fellow of the Cambridge
Philosophical Society and Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society.
Professor Lam is Associate Editor of Asian Journal of Control,
International Journal of Systems Science, International Journal of
Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, IEEE Transactions on Signal
Processing, Journal of the Franklin Institute, Automatica, Conference
Editorial Board of the IEEE Control Systems Society, Subject Editor of
Journal of Sound and Vibration, editorial member of IET Control Theory
and Applications, Open Electrical and Electronic Engineering Journal,
Research Letters in Signal Processing, Open Automation and Control
Journal, Dynamics of Continuous, Discrete and Impulsive Systems: Series

He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the IEE Proceedings: Control Theory

Professor Lam has research interests in model reduction, robust control
and filtering, delay, singular systems, Markovian jump systems, and
multidimensional systems. He has published a monograph entitled Robust
Control and Filtering of Singular Systems
(co-authored with S. Xu) and
over 250 journal articles in these areas.

Professor Yi Mu received his PhD from the Australian National University
in 1994. He is currently a full professor and Director of Centre for
Computer and Information Security Research at University of Wollongong,
Australia. He was the Head of School of Computer Science and Software
Engineering at University of Wollongong during 2011-2015. Prior to
joining University of Wollongong, he was a senior lecturer in the
Department of Computing, Macquarie University. He also worked in the
Department of Computing and IT, University of Western Sydney as a
lecturer. He has been with the University of Wollongong since 2003. His
current research interest includes cryptography, information security
and quantum cryptography. He has published over 370 research papers,
including over 140 journal papers. His research has been funded by
Australian Research Council and industry. He has served as program chair
and member of program committee over 200 conferences including ACM CCS,
ESORICS, ACISP, AisaCCS, etc. and is currently a member of the steering
committees of AsiaCCS, CANS and ProvSec. Professor Yi Mu is the
editor-in-chief of International Journal of Applied Cryptography and
serves as associate editor for nine other international journals
including Information Sciences, The Computer Journal, etc. He is a

Dr. Rafiqul Gani,a member of the editorial department of Computer &
Chemical Engineering, is The Technical University of Denmark and the
former head and co-founder of the Computer Aided Process Engineering
Center (CAPEC). He has published 466 peer-reviewed journals-proceedings
articles plus book chapters and delivered over 300 lectures, seminars
and plenary/keynote lectures at international conferences, institutions
and companies all over the world. Professor Gani has been awarded three
Doctor Honoris Causa degrees from University Politehnica Bucharest,
University of Pannonia and Babes-Bolyai University. Professor Gani is
the ex-president of the EFCE (European Federation of Chemical
Engineering); a member of the Danish Academy of Science; a Fellow of the
AIChE and a Fellow of IChemE. He was awarded the AIChE (CAST Division)
Computers in Chemical Engineering 2015 award in November 2015. He is
also a Distinguished (visiting) Professor at Zhejiang University in
Hangzhou (China) and a Visiting Professor at Texas A&M University,
College station (USA).

金沙娱乐,Dr. Fei Sun (孙飞) is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department
of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, the Hong Kong University of
Science and Technology. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the
Department of Chemical Engineering, Caltech from 2012 to 2014. He
obtained Ph.D. degree at the University of Chicago in 2012 and B.S.
degree at Peking University in 2007 with the work recognized by several
awards including Chicago Biomedical Consortium Scholar Award and The
Everett E. Gilbert Memorial Prize in Organic Chemistry. His research
interest is synthetic biology approaches to new materials, genetically
encoded click chemistry, directed evolution, biomaterials, optogenetics,
and biosensing. To date, he has published 20 papers included PNAS, JACS,
JBC. His talk is Synthetic Biology Approaches toward Diverse
Protein-Based Materials.

Dr. Jiguang Wang (王吉光) is currently an Assistant Professor in the
Division of Life Science and the Department of Chemical and Biological
Engineering at HKUST. He obtained his Ph.D. in applied mathematics from
the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Chinese Academy of
Sciences (CAS) in 2011. He was a visiting student at the Shanghai
Institute of Biological Science at CAS, and has served as a visiting
scholar in the Department of Computer Science at the University of
Missouri, an assistant professor in the Beijing Institute of Genomics at
CAS, a postdoctoral research scientist, an associate research scientist,
a Precision Medicine Fellow and a faculty member in the Department of
Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University. To date, he has published
more than 40 high-impact papers on machine learning, bioinformatics and
precision medicine, such as papers in Nature, Cell, Nature Genetics and
eLife. He was named a Precision Medicine Fellow at Columbia University
in 2015-2016 when he managed a research project on the evolution of
brain cancer. This project led to the publication of two Nature Genetics
papers. His current research interests are in the application of data
science in systems biology and precision cancer medicine. His talk is
Spatiotemporal cancer evolution informs precision medicine in brain
tumor.
